Raising more than $57 million for hundreds of local nonprofits during its history, Amplify Austin Day is the Central Texas region’s day of giving back. Taking place on March 5 & 6 of this year over a 24-hour period, Amplify Austin’s goal is to connect “individuals, families, businesses, and foundations with the causes they are passionate about to create real, lasting change for the local nonprofits that address our most pressing needs.”
At Launch, the Austin community and its passion moves us and motivates us daily. We believe giving back to the community that has given so much to us is essential. As part of our participation in Amplify Austin this year, we’ll be making a $5,000 matching donation to Breakthrough Central Texas, an organization that provides extended learning, comprehensive advising and leadership experiences to students from middle school to college who will be the first in their family to graduate from college.
Launch will also make a $100 donation per employee to a local organization of their choice. Read below to see which organizations our team members chose and why.
Christa, Founder and CEO – Breakthrough Central Texas
“I am passionate about helping the next generation learn, grow, stretch themselves and achieve their goals – for me, Breakthrough’s mission (provide a path through college for students from low-income communities who will be the first in their families to graduate from college) perfectly aligns with my passion and I’m proud to be a longtime supporter of the organization!”
Shawna, Executive Director Accounts and Operations – BIG Love Cancer Center
“For multiple years I have chosen to donate to B.I.G. Love Cancer Care because the thought of a child with cancer absolutely breaks my heart. I am so thankful for the continued work of B.I.G Love Cancer Care and their volunteers to provide personalized care and necessities to children with cancer and their families.”
Jeff, Executive Director Client Engagements – Texas 4000 for Cancer
“Like so many others, cancer has severely impacted the lives of those I love. Texas 4000 is an inspiring organization that cultivates student leaders, engages communities, and raises funds to support research and initiatives that will move us closer to the goal of eradicating this pervasive group of diseases.”
John, Head of Business Development – Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter
“Having lost several family members to Alzheimer’s, I choose to support the Alzheimer’s Association and their research to end this insidious disease, while also providing care to those currently afflicted with it.”
JenRaye, Senior Account Manager – Texas Humane Heroes
“They are a shelter outside of Austin that is striving to align with the ‘save them all’ mission but have a harder time being in a more rural area. They do a lot of good with the limited resources they have. They are often overlooked in fundraising efforts like these.”
Emily, Account Manager – Meals on Wheels Central Texas
“We all get older, and most of us would probably like to live independently for as long as possible. Meals on Wheels Central Texas makes it possible for Austin seniors in need to get good food, social support and in-home care. They do so much for the people who helped raise, teach and shape our community.”
Sydney, Marketing Specialist – Girls Rock Austin
“I think every child should have access to music education, which Girls Rock Austin not only provides, but also uses music to give women, girls, trans and non-binary youth a sense of empowerment and confidence early on. I think the work they’re doing to build self-esteem and self-worth is so important.”
